Rooted in La Cañada Flintridge. Focused on its future.

Quemars Ahmed (known to friends and teachers as Q) is a lifelong resident of La Cañada Flintridge committed to protecting the community that shaped him. A graduate of La Cañada High School, Q went on to make history at UCLA School of Law as the first Muslim editor-in-chief of the UCLA Law Review. Today, he is a California-barred attorney who teaches undergraduate law and works for a nonprofit that provides legal support to municipalities so local governments can better serve their residents.

Quemars is the only candidate born and raised in LCF. His parents chose this city because it was safe, close-knit, and full of opportunity. He credits that environment for giving him the foundation to dream big and succeed. Now, he wants to ensure the next generation has the same advantages.

The 2009 Station Fire was formative for Quemars as it ripped through the Angeles National Forest, threatening thousands of homes in LCF and beyond. These memories were at the forefront of his mind as the Eaton Fire once again tore through our mountains, and motivated him to become more deeply involved in protecting our community. He was unanimously appointed to the city’s Sustainability and Resilience Commission, a newly formed body tasked with implementing climate action policies and strengthening disaster preparedness. As one of its founding members, Q helped build the commission from the ground up while learning the inner workings of city government and laying the groundwork for long-term planning. He knows the challenges facing La Cañada Flintridge and will leverage this experience to prioritize fire safety, emergency coordination, and proactive communication with residents as a member of the City Council.

Quemars believes La Cañada Flintridge must modernize thoughtfully – improving transparency, preparing for state mandates, strengthening partnerships with local schools, and positioning the city for economic vitality without losing its character. He supports practical planning that keeps the community safe, fiscally responsible, and welcoming to families, seniors, and young people who hope to put down roots here.

Quemars is stepping forward to ensure La Cañada Flintridge remains the safe, supportive, and forward-looking community he was proud to grow up in – and hopes future generations will be proud to call home.
